Suck it up Kevin
CS Daily contianed a link today to an article on Kevin Smith over on Empire Online. The article revelas that Smith may not be direct the Green Hornet afterall, though he is still writing it. Smith says he is more into directing films where people sit around and talk, not blow stuff up. I can respect that level of honesty and self-awareness. Nonetheless, when I think of someone else directing what will surely be his outstanding screenplay I have just one thing to say "Well fuck that!" Suck it up Kevin, it's our turn at the wheel, you want my $7.50? Get your ass in the director's chair and start rolling! Posted by j.d.ashcraft to Film Industry at 10:00AM on Jun 10, 2004

I would agree with you, if it weren't for the fact that Kevin Smith is neither a) good at writing films where people sit around and talk, nor b) able to direct his way out of a paper bag in general. I'm thrilled for him that he has risen from fanboy to Hollywood favorite, I just wish he had the talent to make it worthwhile for the rest of us. Posted by Kronar on Jun 10, 2004 at 10:00AM I can't go for that, Mr. Kronar. The only problem with Kevin's movies is if you don't watch them all in order you don't know who your player's are. You are just feeling shut out of the private joke because you haven't invested the requisite commitment. Kevin Smith is a brilliant filmmaker and people taking is definately what he does best, but I want Green Hornet to be as personal as Spiderman (1 and 2) and Kevin is the man to both write and direct. He and Rami together could be fun. Or with Robert Rodrigues. Posted by u_name_me on Jun 10, 2004 at 10:00AM |
