The Tomorrow People

With the sad news of Mr. Wizard 's death (via my fellow iW blogger Matt Dentler) it got me to thinking about all those great shows on Nickelodeon in the 80's. Does anyone recall the low budget sci-fi British show "The Tomorrow People?" An odd mix of Star Trek and X-Men, the show was, as Wikipedia describes it, about:

"the emergence of the next stage of human evolution, who are classified as Homo superior, the next stage after Homo sapiens." Born to Homo sapiens parents, an apparently-normal child might at some point between childhood and late adolescence experience a physically and mentally stressful process called "breaking out". Surviving this process means becoming a "Tomorrow Person", capable of various psi powers such as telepathy, telekinesis, and teleportation.

Check out the clip from above, which is from the first episode and also has their really trippy opening intro.

I loved/hated the tomorrow people as a kid. Along with The Third Eye and a few other strange Nickelodeon shows from that time period. One of the first things I youtubed to look for was the Tomorrow People. When the kids would teleport without their devices and end up somewhere uncontrolled - that really freaked me out.
