FX’s “The League” Starring Duplass Brother Mark Gets Thumbs Up

Mark Duplass is having a good year. Along with a feature in production with Fox Searchlight, he also is co-starring in FX’s new comedy, “The League.”

Variety calls it:

“A crude but consistently funny half-hour that appears to be a bull’s-eye with the channel’s male-skewing audience. Like TBS’ “My Boys.”

The topnotch ensemble includes Pete (Mark Duplass), who consistently wins the fantasy league crown while suffering through a quarrelsome marriage; Kevin (Stephen Rannazzisi), whose wife Jenny (Katie Aselton) secretly helps develop his team’s draft strategies; the sexually frustrated Ruxin (Nick Kroll), whose wife (“My Name Is Earl’s” Nadine Velazquez) is withholding sex after having a baby; and Andre (Paul Scheer), a plastic surgeon whom the other guys constantly abuse.

“The League” also features Mark’s wife (and co-star of “Puffy Chair”)  Katie Aselton. Awesome.

Joaquin Phoenix: Then and Now

Eh, I just don’t get it.. What happened to Joaquin Phoenix on Lettterman last night? A stunt or is he simply bored? Or on drugs?

I guess it livens up what has become the boring, overly scripted world of late night television, but still, this is just depressing.

Phoenix’s appearance on Letterman from a few years ago (I think), telling a silly story about rats in LA.. Typical late night chit chat.

Phoenix’s notorious appearance on Letterman February 11, 2009. One word answers, definitely in some sort of drug fog.
