One of the things about the New York film scene is that it is deceptively small (but then you probably know that already). For example, last night at a friends party I was chatting away with her friends and low and behold it turned out we shared an intern - two days here, three days there. In a borough of 1.5 million, that might seem coincidental. It's really not. Well, soon after that I was chatting away (I like to chat away) with another friend of mine. She's an NYU film grad student. The conversation turned to circles of friends: should one throw oneself whole heartedly into the film world of NY or should keep circles of friends separate from that world. And now - even though nobody asked and nobody probably cares about the opinions of three half-drunk people standing around a party, but this is my blog and it's supposed to be full of such pointless things - i'm going to tell you what we decided: Keep lots of circles of friends because no matter how wonderful people are it's never good to limit yourself.
