There are certain days when blogging seems like more work than others. This is one of days. To keep up with a continued string of vague references - see here and here- last night was the night. (And yes, I am referencing my own post).

It's the day after Deep Throat was revealed, and I have to say it feels like a bit of let down. FYI: This is coming from a guy who upon Katherine Graham's death spent much time thinking on how awful it would be never learn Deep Throat's identity (also, see here... how many times can I reference myself you wonder...). I think I was hoping for someone cooler - like Papa Bush - although I think I'd be disappointed now matter who it was. That it's Mark Felt - a man who was involved in covert actions similar to the Watergate break in - raises many questions about acts heroism, political bravery, political lies, political intrigue, the nature of anonymous sources, and duty to your country, and perhaps (doubtful, but perhaps) will bring about a discourse on these themes for with the current state of affairs such a discourse is integral to the survival of an independent media. However, I still cannot help but think the mystery was much more riveting and memorable than the secret.
