So I saw the DOOM trailer the other day, and personally i think that first person shooter style filmmaking looks godawful. Yeah, it's cool in a video game where you are forced to react of be munched on by some demon-looking monster alien, but on screen it distances you from your hero rather than put us in their shoes. Video games involve us because we're playing them. Film's involve us through a much more complex, artist method and central to that is the acting. Without seeing the character, feeling their emotions through the screen, why do we care?

(And yes for the purpose of this little diatribe I am counting the Rock as an actor)
