So Variety reports that David Hayter is doing a Wild Bunch remake... I know, I know, the remake debate has be done to death, but being a huge Peckinpah fanatic (DVD set comes out in January!!) I have to say my two cents. My first instinct was utter rage and disgust. The movie is a cinematic milestone, and anyone can buy or rent it. However, there are certain stories that can and should be re-told. We usually call them myths. And they have universal meaning that can be translated into different contexts and worlds in order to enlighten a specific audience. The western is the myth of America, and the story of the Wild Bunch - "Seven men who came too late and stayed too long"- might just have value in being re-told to a different world...

... well that or Haytor wants to remake a great movie cause he's pissed he didn’t make them in the first place.
