Hello faithful reader! The moment you may or may not have been waiting for is here. BEAUTIFUL LOSERS is now available on iTunes. After a successful festival run, the film hit theaters through an innovative distribution deal with Nike, and for the past year has been playing museums around the country. Now is your opportunity (and it is an opportunity) to own the film that celebrates the spirit behind one of the most influential cultural moments of a generation.
In the early 1990s a loose-knit group of like-minded outsiders found common ground at a little NYC storefront gallery. Rooted in the DIY (do-it-yourself) subcultures of skateboarding, surf, punk, hip hop & graffiti, they made art that reflected the lifestyles they led. Developing their craft with almost no influence from the “establishment” art world, this group and the subcultures they sprang from have now become a movement that has been transforming pop culture. Starring Shepard Fairey, OBEY founder and creator of the Barack Obama “Hope” poster; award-winning pro skater Ed Templeton; Harmony Korine, writer of the cult favorite KIDS and director of GUMMO and MISTER LONELY; and Mike Mills, director of THUMBSUCKER and designer of album covers for Beastie Boys, Beck, Sonic Youth, and more. Also starring Barry McGee, Chris Johanson, Geoff McFetridge, Jo Jackson, Margaret Kilgallen, Stephen Powers, and Thomas Campbell.

Tomorrow I will be participating in a case study on documentary marketing at Independent Film Week. Rich Lim and I will be discussing the theatrical release of Beautiful Losers, our deal with Nike, and our strategy towards the film, and Patrick Creadon, director of IOUSA, will be talking about his unique his approach to bringing that film out. The panel will be at 2:30 at F.I.T.

Beautiful Losers continues its rollout this week as it opens in Portland, Oregon at Cinema 21 this Friday. The film continues to play at the Lumiere in San Francisco, and the IFC Center continues it’s highly successful midnight screenings this weekend in NY. More theaters coming soon.
