Apologies to anyone who actually noticed my lack of continuous blogging over the past few months. I have been neck deep in my new job at Sidetrack Films, and it has been a busy time. Favela Rising, our first film, had its Cinemax world premiere a week and a half ago, and just opened to solid numbers at the Village East. Two more of our documentaries are deep in post-production, and our first narrative feature looks like it might be gearing up for production later this year. We finally got our website up - www.sidetrackfilms.com - and now we're settling in for a long, hot summer, which I hope will bring a fresh batch of blog entries (yes, I know it's the moment everyone's been waiting for). Future subjects will include my first Cannes experiences, June gloom in LA, and many other things nobody outside my immediate family cares about.
Also, I have decided to retire the name "Under a Neon Sign." It came from an initial desire to tell stories of nightlife in NY and the film festival world. I have since come to the conclusion that most of those stories are too embarrassing to put into print.
