Two weeks ago my boss opened up his apartment to host the premiere party for KONTROLL, a film The Film Sales Company sold to Thinkfilm last year at Cannes (shameless plug!). As parties go, it was - in my unbiased opinion - a complete success. By opting to do it at an apartment instead of an ultra trendy, velvet roped club or a shoplifter friendly retail store, the party had a crowded yet intimate feel without being a hook-up fest or pretentious celebration of pomposity (perhaps one day i'll talk about the other party in the same neighborhood i once went to that does fall into that category). An apartment also personalizes the whole affair, and I think I am not alone in saying I would be in favor of more events of a smiliar nature. It was also the high point of my night as three birthday parties later I ended up wandering a place i had only been once before in my life and witness to things better left unsaid.
Well anyway - To all those who came out to celebrate, I hope you enjoyed the food and the people and had a plain old great time.
