Tomorrow is the day we (I) have been waiting 5 years for - the arrival of Sam Peckinpah's Legendary Westerns Collection. Why it took them so long to get this set together is one of the mysteries of my life. Yeah, The Wild Bunch has been available on a crappy, flipper DVD since the first players hit the market, and I managed to get all the rest of his films for about 2 bucks a pop on half.com (and that includes both the original studio cut of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid and the Ted Turner re-cut, which, after both, would probably fit together into quite the amazing movie - also, the Dylan soundtrack really is a classic). But watching used VHS' of westerns kind of kills the rough majesty of the landscape, and let’s not even comment on the lack of widescreen. So thank you Warner Home Video! I'll be giving you 50 buck tomorrow.
