And although I feel pretty damn sure that that is probably the only thing worth writing about today, I have absolutely no idea what to say. Mostly this is because I know so little about the newly named Benedect XVI. Whereas a year and a half ago I could have told you where Wesley Clark was holding a town hall; what John Kerry thought of ethanol subsidies; Howard Dean's favorite restaurant in new hampshire or explore the intricacies of the phenomena known as Joe-Mentum; I know jack about the man who's just become the leader of the catholic church, only the second in my lifetime (compared with 5 presidents). Well, actually that's not completely true. I believe (and someone tell me if I'm wrong here) that Cardinal Ratzinger was the same man who tried to deny John Kerry communion during the election for reasons that may or may not have been partisan. Anyway, my not-so-original point is just the more I watch the less I know. And for all those numbed by the media overkill, this is still an event worth knowing about.
I would bother to tie this rambling in to film, but then I'd be sounding like a poor man's poor excuse of a wannabe Frank Rich, and, well, there's only one Frank Rich.
