Anyone in the New York area this weekend should really consider doing this movie a kindness: Winnebago Man, Ben Steinbauer's poignant, amusing and utterly insightful look at the viral phenomenon of Jack Rebney's unending rage screens at Rooftop Films on Friday. I reviewed the movie at SXSW and can't wait to see it again. (Sadly, I can't make it this time around.) As far as I can tell, it's first modern day treatment of viral media as both a social phenomenon and a deeper psychological tendency with emotional weight. You've got to see it to believe it. And since it doesn't have a distributor yet, I suggest seeing it now.
Look, go or don't go. It makes no difference to me at this juncture.
