When I was told that someone had transformed my 1,600 page paperback reference "Leonard Maltin’s Movie Guide" into an iPhone app, I’ll admit I was wary…but the folks at MobileAge did a fine job and now the newly updated app for 2013 is ready.

It’s been a while since I paid a visit to the live taping of Doug Benson’s popular podcast 'Doug Loves Movies', so I did just that last week and found myself on a panel with Chris Evans (Captain America himself) and Adam Scott (of 'Parks and Recreation').

Yes, Virginia, some people still consult reference books, and some people still edit them, like me. At 1640 pages, 'Leonard Maltin’s 2013 Movie Guide' is the latest edition of a paperback I’ve been overseeing since I was a teenager.
