If you live in New York City, this might be a good time to head down to the Angelika Film Center. I was going through theater listings (by the way, if you haven't seen Knocked Up, it really IS that good) and I noticed that everything playing at the Angelika is something I would recommend to people. It's not often that I think everything at one particular venue is good, but this week is an exception. I would even say three of the six movies (La vie en Rose, Paprika, Golden Door) are some my favorites of the year, particularly the last one. Even Daywatch, which has been trashed in a lot of publications, is exactly what you pay for - big, dumb, visually astounding fun. Anyway, just thought I'd put my humble two cents in. Go see some movies.

Oh, and in case that wasn't enough to choose from, I would also say drop whatever you are doing and take a chance with 12:08 East of Bucharest. You won't regret it.

I agree with you about the programming at the Angelika, but the seats are gawd-awful and the quality of the projection and sound are spotty, at best. They need to fix that place up (never mind you can hear the subway trains!).
