Three More Chances For Natural Causes

I really didn’t want to return from months of silence with shameless self-promotion (especially when I’m working on two different pieces for this week), but time is running out. So:

TONIGHT - 9:30 PM at the IFC Center, Natural Causes comes home to New York City. Our first, and what may be, only public screening in NYC is this special Sneak Preview. It’s going to be a really fun showing, with myself, my two co-directors and much of our cast and crew in attendance. I highly encourage all of you who live within the five boroughs to hop on a train and join us tonight. You won’t want to miss this.

Just for old times sake, I’ve posted the trailer again below:

If you don’t get a chance to come and are going to be in the Woodstock area this weekend, we are showing twice in the Woodstock Film Festival as our actual New York Premiere.

Friday, October 3rd - 12:00 PM at Woodstock Town Hall
Saturday, October 4th - 2:00 PM at Upstate Films in Rhinebeck.

More on that festival soon. And, I promise, more from me this week . . .

An Oldie But a Goodie

So, I know Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is beyond old news, but my good friend Kate MacCluggage pointed this video out to me last night and it, along with Gnarles Barkley video Dentler posted a couple days ago (which is brilliant) and my second helpings of both Pineapple Express and Dark Knight IMAX have made for quite an stimulating week of viewing. I figured I would share it.

I think it pretty much speaks for itself, but I will say that perhaps the publicist scheduled just one too many interviews in a row. Also, note how hilariously condescending the journalist is before it even begins to derail.

Shaq Attack

Thanks to Eric Kohn for sending me this link. As he said, “Shaq is crazy!”. I just had to share.

This was taken in a New York City club last night.

I Stand Corrected

kung_fu_panda_poster.jpg

For the memories it conjured up of the first time I watched Come Drink With Me or Five Deadly Venoms, for both its incredible innovation in animation and its use of already honed techniques, for the most glorious animated new school action sequences I’ve ever seen - worthy of Luc Besson or the best of Michael Bay, for its unabashed ability to never lose steam and always be entertaining for all ages and, last but definitely not least, for its casting of Jackie Chan as a monkey, I loved loved loved Kung Fu Panda and I feel it was completely worthy of both its slot in Cannes and your entire $16 to see it in IMAX. Run, don’t walk.

Feed the Animals

In continuing with a trend being utilized recently by artists like Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails, Girl Talk has released his new album, Feed the Animals, this week in a “pay what you want” internet fashion. And may I say myself that it is FANTASTIC! Check it out.

For more on the power of Girl Talk, see this fantastic real-time audience reaction video shot by indieWIRE’s own Eugene Hernandez:
