A Prayer For AFI Fest

My heart goes out to the programmers at AFI Fest today as they struggle to find a new opening night film after Paramount pulled “The Soloist” from the festival a mere week before its premiere.

I know how difficult this can be. Films drop in and out all the time after the program is locked the tickets have been sold and it is never fun for the staff, but not very frequently in such a prominent slot. I’m sure Paramount had their reasons, but, nevertheless, I wish the AFI programming staff the best of luck.
