On the eve of his annual visit to Austin, the Austin American-Statesman chats with acclaimed screenwriter and actor Buck Henry. Henry will be participating on panels for the Austin Film Festival & Screenwriters Conference this weekend. Among the interesting things Henry reveals in this brief Q&A with Chris Garcia? That he's lost some hope in today's comedy:
"I'm not really interested in comedies. I don't respond to them. I am much more interested in 'The Constant Gardener' or 'A History of Violence.' I think television destroyed film comedies. You can watch eight hours of it a day on TV, so why bother to go to a theater and just see bigger versions of it?"
