QT Fest Under the Stars

It may have been the Opening Night of the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, but Tuesday night was also the outdoor evening of Quentin Tarantino's "Best of QT Fest" in Austin. The biker film double feature included such "classics" as Richard Rush's Savage Seven and Jack Starrett's Hollywood Man. The latter features an incredibly corny yet infectious theme song, and Tarantino promised in his introduction, "You may have Alzheimer's and not remember your wife's name, but you will remember this song!"

Joining Tarantino, Elvis Mitchell, and the RZA at the screening were such notables as Sundance Film Festival Director Geoffrey Gilmore, filmmakers Gus Van Sant and Mike Judge, John & Janet Pierson, Harry Knowles, actress Tiffany Limos (Ken Park), and many more.

Gus Van Sant, Tarantino Fest, Swanberg, TV on the Radio, the RZA??? Looks like I picked the worst time of the year to not be in Austin.

Oh, wait, there's the Acropolis outside my window. Maybe being in Athens isn't so bad.

I was lucky enough to sit behind RZA, Tiffany Limos, and Quentin Tarantino on the Thursday night screening. Tarantino was trying to woo Ms. Limos by massaging her shoulders and trying to kiss her. She passed. It was fun to watch this in action.

I was there. It was great. I saw Tiffany Limos and Quentin Tarantino at the Omni Hotel. I saw RZA at the Alamo. I saw Eli Roth at one of the screenings at midnight. Besides all of the celebs it is a great thing that Tarantino is doing for the Austin community.
