Former Texas Governor Ann Richards died Wednesday night at her home in Austin. She was 73. Richards was not only a popular state leader and national political figure, she was also a memorable part of both the Texas Film Hall of Fame, and SXSW. She was the emcee of the annual Texas Film Hall of Fame ceremony every year except 2006, when she was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. In addition, she was a regular presence at SXSW, especially when documentaries featuring the charismatic speaker, premiered at the festival. She will be missed, all around the world.

Call me weird, but I'm really hoping that the Alamo South Lamar plays only Anne's "Take Your Ass Out" promos for a while.

She'll really be missed.
