The 31st Atlanta Film Festival wrapped over the weekend, and they've announced the winners. This includes the three short film categories I juried. The winners of the shorts categories were:
Narrative Short
Grand Jury Prize: Family Reunion by Isold Uggadottir
Special Jury Prize: Bitch by Lila Vandenburgh
Documentary Short
Grand Jury Prize: Fighting Cholitas by Mariam Jobrani
Special Jury Prize: Someone Else's War by Lee Wang
Animated Short
Grand Jury Prize: Everything Will Be OK by Don Hertzfeldt
Special Jury Prize: Counting Water by Brian Savelson
All of us on the jury were impressed with the selections as a whole, but of course, the above won us over in the end. Feature award-winners at Atlanta included: Craig Zobel's Great World of Sound (Narrative Grand Jury Prize) and Jessica Yu's Protagonist (Documentary Grand Jury Prize).
