On Friday, Miramax will open Taika Waititi's Kiwi comedy, Eagle Vs. Shark. This is really one of my personal faves coming out this summer, so do yourself a favor and check it out. It's funny, charming, and really entertaining. I've heard a few folks, who have yet to see it, describe the film as "Oh, that Napoleon Dynamite movie." That's a mistake. Besides the international qualities of the film, Eagle Vs. Shark is more than just "Napoleon Dynamite for grown-ups." For starters, it's really a love story and a very fine one at that. Anyhow, two interviews conducted during the film's stop at SXSW 2007 have recently popped online. There's Stephen Saito's Q&A with director Waititi and star Loren Horsley for Premiere, and then check out Brian Brooks' chat with Horsley (as well as one of my favorite SXSW 2007 photos) on indieWIRE.
Sorry to piss in your Corn Flakes here, but this movie really made me angry. I really liked it. I liked 99.5% of it. The absolute end of the film made me so angry, I could spit.
