My Wednesday MP3: Raised By Swans' "Violet Light"

Do you like your indie rock shoegazing and minimalist? Well, even if you don't, you should check out this track from the underrated Canadian band, Raised By Swans. From their 2005 debut, this haunting and hushed song (with a dash of Nada Surf) can be found in Paul Fox's equally Canadian film, Everything's Gone Green. Based on the novel by Douglas Coupland, the film (which had its U.S. Premiere at SXSW 2007) will be released on DVD July 31. A stoner comedy, this is the kind of movie that could have a real following on DVD (yknow, where you don't have to get off your sofa to see it). The soundtrack, as well as other Raised By Swans songs, is worth spinning for yourself. To get a taste, here's "Violet Light" from Raised By Swans.
