While you were busy either finding or avoiding Harry Potter book spoilers online, the 3rd annual Fantastic Fest announced another batch of titles for this year. The horror/sci-fi/fantasy/crime fest will take place in Austin, September 20-27. I'm one of the programmers, and we've been working away to secure some of the year's best and brightest for genre fans. Recently, I was able to lock down Justin Lin's Finishing the Game and Larry Fessenden's The Last Winter, thanks to the good folks at IFC First Take.

In other programming news, we have added some highly adored and/or anticipated Asian fright flicks to the slate. They include Sion Sono's Exte: Hair Extensions, Kiyoshi Kurosawa's Retribution, and (from the Asian gangster realm) Yu Ha's A Dirty Carnival. Get the full list of confirmed titles, but get ready, because we have some of the biggest and boldest programming additions to come in the next few weeks.
