Driving from Santa Monica back to Hollywood, on Monday, Jarren and I were listening to Indie 103.1 on the radio (as I'm known to do when I come to these parts). A song came on that I dug instantly, a song from L.A-area band, Great Northern. It seems there's a scene popping up in this neck of the woods, a scene of indie-minded rock bands (Silversun Pickups being another) that borrow a page or two from early 1990s alt-rock (in a suitable manner, though). I did a quick search online and found out that they will play Austin on Thursday, August 2. I'm gonna try to be there, and I suggest you try the same. As Jarren and I reach the homestretch of our L.A. trip, I leave you with "Home" by Great Northern. It's a killer summer track, I believe. Okay, off to 24 more hours of L.A. shopping, eating, and entertainment. Bonus pic:
