Sundance 2008.1: Lost in the Supermarket

Jarod and I took the 8 a.m. direct flight from Austin to Salt Lake City (along with a bevy of fellow Austin film types), and it was well worth it. There wasn't much sleep to be had last night, but arriving at 10 a.m. local time was priceless. No trouble getting a shuttle to Park City. There were no lines awaiting us at the industry check-in at the Yarrow. Even the infamous first-day Albertson's shopping spree was very smooth. We even had time to sit and catch our breath. How often does that happen during Sundance?

Of course, this is only the beginning. More and more and more people are descending upon this tiny resort town, as we speak. In just a few hours, that same Albertson's will be filled with new arrivals. And, yes, all the complaints are true: it seems colder than ever before. One friend remarked: "what happened to global warming?" I've run into folks who aren't sure if they're catching a cold, or if their body just doesn't know how to react. But enough with the complaining... for now. We're at Sundance, and it's time to get to work.
