It's sad news to hear that actor Roy Scheider has died, at the age of 75. He was an almost-star who many remember for his lead role in Jaws, but there are two other Scheider performances that ring louder for me. The first, is his Oscar-nominated breakthrough in The French Connection (1971). He was awesome. The other, a more personal fave, would be Night Game (1989) which I only fondly remember because the plot of this thriller involved the Houston Astros. And, it featured this memorable tagline: "STRIKE ONE - there's a killer on the loose... STRIKE TWO - you never know where he'll strike next... STRIKE THREE - too late."
For me, his best work was in All That Jazz, acting onscreen as director Bob Fosse's stand-in. That must have been a tough role.
