So, yeah. I'm leaving SXSW at the end of the month. And, not only that, I'm moving to New York and working at Cinetic Media, as part of their new Cinetic Rights Management division. More on all this soon, but I felt it was only proper to acknowledge it here. Thanks to everyone for their good words and wishes.
Hi Matt -
I don't know you, I've never been to SXSW - and I live in Norway on the other side of the Atlantic.
But I'm immersed in film work, and I follow your blog. From this distance, I've easily registered your magnetism on passionate filmmakers, enthusiastic press and, I'm sure, a devoted audience in Austin each March.
So, I guess you're Mr. SXSW. But good luck on your new endeavour! If it counts for something; it is with a certain sadness that I now realize I won't be experiencing a SXSW film festival "Made by Matt Dentler". Ever?
Congratulations, Matt! You've made SXSW a pretty incredible experience for a lot of filmmakers over the past several years, and I know we're all grateful for your giving voice to new and young filmmakers on the fringe.
Digital rights is a huge landscape opening up to filmmakers so it's great to see you getting involved in that end of the spectrum. Best wishes as you move forward.
Matt,
I'm sure I speak for a hell of a lot of people when I say much, MUCH THANKS for the platform you've created at SXSW!
And, of course, the absolute best of luck in any and everything else you do. No matter what, we'll always expect to be seeing you at a karaoke bar near you!
Dude. Duuuude. As much as I admire and trust Janet Pierson to do a great job, it simply won't be the same without you. You set a standard and did some great things for SXSW so thanks! Best of luck on this new endeavor, NYC boy ;-)
Wow, huge congratulations to you, Matt! This was my first year at SXSW and I was absolutely blown away the experience.
I'm excited to hear about your new adventures in NYC. And, as a filmmaker, I feel hugely reassured that you'll be working in the digital rights world. We're bound to hear amazing things about you wherever you go!
Congratulations! What's to become of your blog?
Congrats on the exciting move! I'm sorry I'll never experience a SXSW with you at the helm, but I look forward to catching up with you in NYC. Very best wishes.
Congrats Matt and nice meeting you at this years Sarasota Film Festival. I'm sorry I was never able to experience SXSW with you as the producer. That being said, DR is the future of our world as indie filmmakers and I'm glad you are one of it's foremost leaders.
Well done, Matt! I hope you'll keep blogging about your new gig and that you'll be back in Austin next March in such a way that you can actually enjoy yourself a little bit. Congratulations, you deserve it!
NXNE at Cinetic. Good for you, i hope SXSW doesn't suffer much.
What the F? Dude, I have to learn this from your blog? Congrats! We all knew it was bound to happen, just didn't know when. I'm glad to have experienced many SXSW's that you have been a part of & produced. Wish I could have been there for your last one.
