The Return of S.R. Bindler

You may or may not have heard of the new Matthew McConaughey film, Surfer Dude. And, you may or may not have heard that the filmmakers just announced a distribution deal with Anchor Bay. While no one who has seen the film has testified about its merits, it is worth noting that this is the sophomore directorial effort of S.R. Bindler. This name may not mean much to most of y'all, but Bindler's last feature was the 1997 cult classic documentary, Hands on a Hardbody. This doc, which has managed decent cult status outside of Texas, is something of a staple amongst Texas film fans. The hilarious and wholly entertaining film even screened at the Dobie Theatre in Austin for something like a year. I recall during SXSW 1998, out-of-town fest attendees took a break from festival screenings to see this then-legendary piece of entertainment. So, that brings me to two questions which will hopefully be answered upon the Surfer Dude release: 1. Why did it take Bindler 10 years to deliver a follow-up film? and 2. How can we get our hands on Hardbody today?
