Happy? Not-So-Lucky

So there I was, on my Virgin Atlantic flight from New York to London when I start surfing my movie options on the plane. "What's this?" I thought. British films that have yet to see an American release. Among them, Mike Leigh's acclaimed latest Happy-Go-Lucky, which Miramax acquired at Berlin and will see an American release later this year. "But, I can watch it right now, for 'free'?" I'm a big Leigh fan, so I was pumped. "Now, that's lucky." No Fool's Gold or 27 Dresses... we get Mike Friggin' Leigh! And, I was enjoying the first 30 minutes quite a bit... until the captain comes on the PA to say, "We have to shut down the movie service for the remainder of the flight." Remainder = all but 30 minutes of the seven-hour trip. So, I wasn't so lucky after all. I read a script, some of a new book, and tried to sleep. Now I'm in London, which is almost like seeing a Mike Leigh movie. Maybe on the way back.
