Federer and Roddick

The final face-off for the Men’s Singles at Wimbledon on Sunday, echoed the intense showmanship of last year’s final showdown (considered the greatest tennis game ever played) between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. This year, the match was between Federer and Andy Roddick, with the former regaining his place atop the perch of his sport. Roddick, though, played an impressive match and even appeared close to upset the great Federer. Following the almost-epic game (only “almost” because it sat in the shadow of last year), Roddick and Federer congratulated one another but you could tell that defeat was stinging Roddick. As great as Federer may be, and as much as everyone knows this fact, Roddick couldn’t help but look stunned and shaken. He even gets a little testy when Federer attemtps to empathize with him:

Roddick’s day will come, eventually.
