'Devil' Trailer Gets Laughs

I saw the trailer for the horror movie Devil, for the first time online by myself. Whatever, no big deal, looks fine but I doubt I will see it. Just not a big fan of anyone involved, and no longer a fan of the film's producer, M. Night Shyamalan. Speaking of which, when I saw the trailer a second time before a full house at Inception, it was a slightly different vibe. Whatever audience members were invested in the trailer during its first 60 seconds, became a laughing crowd once Shyamalan's name appeared on the screen. An eruption of laughter that slowly became infectious. After the disgrace of his last few films, most recently The Last Airbender, Shyamalan's name is a joke to movie goers. Universal Pictures might want to reconsider using it for marketing, unless of course, it's contractual. If the audience in the Union Square theater was any indication, his name is counter-productive.

Suing The Devil' is as radical as 'Passion of Christ'! I believe even more radical than 'Passion of Christ'!! God bless the passion of the writer & director Tim Chey! And also pray for Divine protection to all people involved in making of this awesome film! It is a very compelling movie about exposing the lies of the devil & our authority over the power of the enemy thru Jesus! It did not a bit watered down the message of the Gospel! Brave!!!I noticed that every scene is just packed with messages from the Holy Spirit! I said 'Brave!' because this film is up and against the devil! Yes, like face to face to the enemy! I love what Malcom McDowell said in the movie -"Everyday people die. And they are not really dead! …There is only 2 places, they are either alive in heaven or alive in hell! You pick!” WOW! I personally matured more spiritually after watching this film. This is a great tool for evangelism! So I am buying for everyone I know who needs to be saved and mature in their Christian walk! !” Looking forward for more radical films like this !

So did the ass-chumps at the Post just "break" the story? http://www.nypost.com/p/pagesix/night_eclipse_CNwjEMLiqn59kRY7zVT0IJ Director M. Night Shyamalan may need to take his name out of his own movie trailer. When the promo for "Devil" -- which he produced -- played before a Friday night screening of "Inception" at the 34th Street IMAX theater, the crowd booed when the screen showed, "From the mind of M. Night Shyamalan." "Then everyone erupted in laughter," a moviegoer reports. Shyamalan directed "The Sixth Sense" but his subsequent pictures -- including "The Happening" and "The Village" -- have flopped. A rep for Universal had no comment.

Ah, Shyamalan... from wunderkind auteur to critical whipping-boy in one short decade! I don't feel bad for him, though. He had chances a-plenty -- chances that could have gone to up-and-coming talent -- to redeem himself. The navel-gazing hack ruined my favorite cartoon! He should be directing straight-to-DVD horror movies.
