1. Yeasayer, Odd Blood
(At moments, this second LP from the Brooklyn art-rockers is both more bizarre and more accessible than their fantastic debut.)

2. Local Natives, Gorilla Manor
(A terrific new album from L.A. hipster-rockers, melodic and moody. The songs are soft, sweet, and always hinging on a certain darkness.)

3. Corinne Bailey Rae, The Sea
(Her first album was good, but positioned her to be another anonymous female coffee-shop singer. This new release is affirmation that she's unique enough to stand the test of time.)

4. Oh No Ono, Eggs
(These inventive Danes catapult between styles to create an expansive rock album that can chill you out.)

5. Daniel Merriweather, Love & War
(The talented Australian pop singer is back with another retro-fashioned album of original tunes. He has enough kick to make this much more than some adult contemporary knock-off. It's actually quite good.)
