June is the other month in the year (besides April), when festivals hit a gridlock and start overlapping. We've had Newport and NewFest come and go, while Nantucket and LAFF are on the horizon. As I've noted, CineVegas is coming to an end this week but SILVERDOCS is going strong through this weekend.
SILVERDOCS, AFI's nonfiction festival near D.C., begins this week and continues until June 22. I'm gonna make my way to the festival for the weekend, when I'm participating in a really cool two-part panel discussion. The session is called "SIX WAYS FROM SUNDAY: 21ST CENTURY DISTRIBUTION STRATEGIES," and begins at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 19. The first half of the panel will explore "The State of Affairs," while the second half will examine "Looking To The Future." Joining me in this discussion are great industry people such as Nancy Abraham from HBO, Molly Thompson from A&E, Liz Ogilvie from Bside, Steve Savage from New Video, and more.
If it's at least half as entertaining as Distribution Roulette during CineVegas, then we'll be just fine.
