Now that L.A.'s short-lived but much-loved indie rock station, Indie 103.1, has permanently moved off the air and online, driving in L.A. isn't as interesting as it has been over the last few years. Indie 103.1 provided my L.A. soundtrack while stuck on the 405 or shuffling down Fountain and Santa Monica Blvd. And, I've almost entirely given up on CDs (because they are growing increasingly obsolete). What I do have, though, is Aaron Hillis' kick-ass double-disc 2008 mix CD. That has become the soundtrack for this L.A. trip, unless I cave and wind up spending money I shouldn't at Amoeba Music.

I miss Indie 103.1 too! Now, all I listen to is KUCI 88.9 FM. You can't get it in LA but you can listen at kuci.org.

If you have an iPhone, you can listen to Indie in your car. Go to Indie's website to download it app.
