If there's a classic rock comparison to be made for Kanye West's new 35-minute film, Runaway, it might be Pink Floyd's film adaptation of The Wall. Surreal and ethereal, without much care for dialogue or development, there's still a dystopian-like quality to what Kanye realizes with this project. Written by music video director Hype Williams, Kanye directed the film himself. It's not bad as a debut effort behind the camera, however, it doesn't portray as much depth as Kanye may have hoped. Maybe Runaway is just supposed to be an eye-catching mix of new songs (some from his upcoming album), and a savvy way to build attention for an artist that has tried every other outlet. If so, he's succeeded. The entire film is available here:
