I'm probably gonna have to take a panel hiatus for a couple of weeks in May, since I'm getting a little talked-out. So, this weekend, I'm going on hiatus with a bang. I have three panels scheduled: two on Saturday and one on Sunday. First off, I'm participating in the annual Tribeca Filmmaker Talks at the Apple Store Soho, hosted by indieWIRE. These panels are free and open to the public, so just pop on upstairs once you get to the building. On Saturday night at 6:30 p.m., I'm interviewing filmmaker Ti West, who will premiere his latest feature, The House of the Devil, at the Tribeca Film Festival. I've known Ti for years, having premiered his first two films, The Roost and Trigger Man, at SXSW. Look forward to seeing the new film, and discussing horror movies at the Apple Store. On Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m., also at the Apple Store Soho, I'm moderating a discussion called "Meet indieWIRE & SnagFilms." I'll chat with priniciple players from both companies and see what their futures hold.
If you don't feel like coming down to Soho, and you're also an IFP or SAG member, I'm joining a panel on Saturday between 1 and 2 p.m. at the New York Film Academy in Union Square. The panel discussion will touch on various aspects of producing and distributing in today's market. My fellow panelists are filmmaker/new-media mind Lance Weiler, sales rep Kevin Iwashina, film producer Peter Phok, and our moderator will be journalist Brandon Harris. See you at one of these, or all three!
