For over six months, open source info directory Wikipedia has been looking for $6 million in donations so that it can keep operating without advertising. They reached the goal, which puts them in the black until the end of June. Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales says thank you. In related news, I'll settle for six dollars, to keep this bad boy running. Post-dated checks are fine. In all seriousness, if this inspires similar copycat fundraising for Web sites, lots of people are gonna find themselves disappointed.
