Hillary Clinton, widely expected to run for the presidency in 2016, is a Twitter force after only one day on the social-media innovation.
She is following her
her husband, her daughter and the Clinton Foundation, the Clinton Global Initiative and the Clinton School on Twitter. But by 1 a.m. Tuesday, she had amassed more than 304,000 followers. Her husband Bill certainly boosted her prospects by retweeting her tweet to his 746,262 followers.
Her bio on Twitter does go on a bit, but why shouldn't Mrs. Clinton brag? What a distinguished resume:
"Wife, mom, lawyer, women & kids advocate, FLOAR, FLOTUS, US Senator, SecState, author, dog owner, hair icon, pantsuit aficionado, glass ceiling cracker, TBD…”
"That touch of mystery at the end — 'to be determined' — has plenty of people wondering," the Washngotn Post noted.
Wondering? Wondering what, exactly? If Hillary thinks that she can obtain the Democratic nomination and then win the presidential election, she's all in. She won't lean in, she'll be all in. The woman, to her credit, is a political animal. The politics life is in her blood.
She learned from Obama about the verities of having a strong and active social-media presence.
Being on Twitter has given her lots of nice publicity, too, taking away from the bitter experience of having to answer for the bloodshed in Benghazi.
Twitter will likely enable her to get her ideas out, unfiltered, finally. This, she will discover, is one of the beautiful parts of social media: YOU control the message.
