Also, just found out that my next movie (that I directed, I produced WWJB) will be premiering at Sundance in January! What Would Jesus Buy? OPENS TONIGHT
Hey everybody, have been unplugged for months shooting Season 3 of 30 Days (I am doing two episodes this season) - but some great news on the movie front which we have been working on for months. The new independent movie we produced which is all about the commercialization of Christmas, "What Would Jesus Buy?" OPENS TONIGHT in NYC at the Village East Cinema (12th Street and University.) If you can make the 7 or 9 PM sceening, I will be there for a Q&A, along with the film's heroes, Reverened Billy and the Stop Shopping Gospel Choir, and director Rob VanAlkemade. COME SEE THE FILM THAT IS BEING CALLED: "Tremendously entertaining" - Village Voice The film expands next Wednesday to Los Angeles and Irvine, then to Berkeley, San Francisco, Lincoln (Nebraska) and Portland, OR on Friday the 23rd. I will be in Portland opening night and will do a Q&A at the 7 and 9 PM screenings. Go to the films website: http://www.wwjbmovie.com to find out when it is coming to a theatre near you ... and if it isn't and you want it to, call your local theater owner and ask him to get it! So please come out and support this truly independent movie. WHY IS IT TRULY INDEPENDENT? Because every distributor balked for fear of repercussions from Wal-Mart, a company featured in the film, who controls nearly 50% of the entire DVD market. So, we raised the money to self distribute and are putting the documentary into theatres oursleves! SO SPREAD THE WORD, and do something a little different this holiday season ... spend less, but give more. Change-a-lujah! Morgan

Me and Conan tonight!
Hey everybody, it’s me – the worst blogger in the history of blogdom back with an update of some big news that’s going on. First off, let me just say that “What Would Jesus Buy?” rocked SXSW and since then has played at Hot Docs in Canada. Coming up next is the Cornerstone Festival in Illinois and Silverdocs in DC … so be sure to check it out if you have a chance. NEXT ON THE AGENDA: I’ll be on Conan O’Brien tonight (May 7th) talking about the first theatrical release on the distribution label we started last year called “Chalk.” I'm really excited about the movie and it opens in L.A. this weekend and then will start expanding across the country after that – if you loved Best in Show and Spinal Tap, then this movie is right up your alley. It’s a mockumentary about school teachers and its hilarious. It was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and won awards at every festival it went to. I hope you dig it. Here’s the website which contains all the info about the movie: http://www.chalkthefilm.com/ AND … A percentage of the proceeds from the film will go to Teacher’s Count (http://www.teacherscount.org) – so go see the film, take your favorite teacher and help out a great organization! Talk to you soon – Morgan March 06, 2007
SXSW - Here we come!!!
Thank Goodness I didn’t post my Oscar picks. I only got 10 out of 24 correct, nearly bringing up the rear in the office Oscar pool. (Which was pretty healthy – the winner took home $342!) Actually, the person who did the worst in the pool (3 out of 24) got 10% of the pot (38 big ones). Right now, we are packing our bags, printing posters, finishing the sound mix and color correct and getting ready to rock and roll with a new movie at the SXSW film festival. We have a whole crew going down to Austin – everyone from the movie, Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping, and a bunch of folks from my office – so we’ll be looking for a good time and hope to see you there at the other end of the bar with a Lone Star. On Sunday at the festival, I will be giving a talk, taking questions from the audience, etc. about what my experience has been in the industry and trying to help find the answer to the age old and most important question for filmmakers: How The Heck do I get my movie distributed! It should be a lot of fun. And Sunday night is the premiere of What Would Jesus Buy? A movie about the commercialization of Christmas that I produced and that is directed by Rob VanAlkemade. It shows at 9:45 PM on March 11th and again on Saturday the 17th. And we’re having a premiere party afterwards at Emo’s, so find someone from the movie and get yourself an official invite to the festivities when you get there. See you in Texas! YEEEEEE HAHHHH! Happy New Year and all that Jazz
My cup runneth over … and not just because its filled with all of Laken’s bodily fluids, but because the New Year has begun with a wave of great news. First of the firsts – the movie I produced, “What Would Jesus Buy?”, a doc all about the commercialization of Christmas, will premiere at the SXSW film festival in Austin, TX on March 11th at 9 PM. If you’re going down, be sure to get your passes and tickets quick because I’m sure the festival is gonna sell out fast. The film, directed by Rob Van Alkemade (who won a Special Jury Prize at Sundance last year for his short Preacher with an Unknown God), follows Reverend Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping on their nationwide mission to save America from the Shopocalypse. It’s pretty fantastic and I hope you guys like it as much as I do. Here are the links to Rev Billy’s website as well as SXSW so you can come see us! http://www.revbilly.com http://www.sxsw.com December 11, 2006
Back from the Abyss, Season 3 and Fatherhood
I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack. It's only been 4 months, but who's counting? I've been traveling the world working on a new film and just got back to the states. Movie's gonna be fantastic - should be out next spring/summer ... can't say much more now, but as I can update you I will. I also got the call from John Landgraf and Eric Schrier, the BMOC's over at F/X, and they wanted to let the show's creative team, Ben Silverman, RJ Cutler, HT Owens and myself, know that they were going to bring 30 Days back for a THIRD SEASON! Awesome news right? In season three, I will do two episodes ... the season premiere and the season finale. Show should be on the air sometime toward the end of next year. Any ideas? And lastly, the greatest news of all , the best christmas present and the most incredible day of my life occured last Saturday, December 9th at 4:10 PM - when Alex gave birth to our first child, a 9 lb, 23 1/4 inch long boy named Laken James. He's beautiful and we haven't been able to stop staring at him. We had the baby at home and Alex had no drugs, no sedatives, nada - yes, she is amazing. I don't know how she did it ... and she was in labor for 36 hours! Unbelievable. Here's a pic of the little man ... I think he look like his daddy. Talk to you soon - and keep checking back for regular updates starting now. Have a Merry Christmas! Morgan
