JACQUES THELEMAQUE - Just getting a feel for it
It's the third quarter of the Broncos - Steelers Championship game and the Broncos are getting spanked. Seems like a good time to post a blog. I haven't blogged since Wednesday and it is now Sunday. I've got to get into the swang of this blog thang. It's tough because I'm over-stimulated. In just a few days, I feel like I've done a thousand things, and seen/met a thousand people. And I'm tired, already. Time to chill and see movies. Haven't seen enough movies. And really, for me, that's the most important thing to do here. It's easy to question the point of so much hustling, meeting so many people and going to so many parties, but I never have to question why I go to see films. Anyway, here's the quick update: Our screenings: Great. Love the other shorts filmmakers. Good Q & A's. Fun to see how people respond to all the films. Then we get to lurk in the lobby and troll for compliments. Saw Tiffany Shlain's movie (in my shorts program) at her house. It rocks and so did her after party. Business: Withoutabox launched "Audience" and have it on display at Queer Lounge. Very exciting where that whole world is heading and what it will do for us filmmakers. Spending a lot of time in the condo on my computer doing work for WAB, Filmmakers Alliance, FA Productions and the distribution work on my feature "The Dogwalker". Had some meetings with people here about all that stuff, but it's tough to concentrate. Career: Not something I think about. Nonetheless, still getting approached by managers and producers. Probably won't call them, though. Although the attention is good for my ego. Met a film investor, though, who seems for real. We're gonna meet when I get back from Berlin. Parties: Run into a lot of lost RSVP's. But still had no problems getting in. Saw friends. Re-connected with acquaintances. Met some cool people. Drank way too much. What can you say about parties. They dominate your time, but rarely leave much to be discussed. Films: Saw a couple of very daring films. Did they work? Who cares? There was more than enough there to thrill and inspire us. It's tough to tune out all of the craziness with Park City becoming a magnet for cheeseballs from around the world. But if you make sure to see films and keep the festival about them in your mind, you can't go wrong. Posted by Jacques Thelemaque on Jan 22, 2006 at 05:00PM
