Inert and Inerter

Please don't make me watch another film about a grown man who abandons his wife and child for no apparent reason to regress in his childhood home and play with his toys and his buddy, because I've seen 2 in the past 3 months and that's more than enough.

"...I suspect I’m not alone in growing weary... of the endless celebration of arrested development as a social entitlement," wrote Tony Scott in the Summer Movies section of the Times. I am nodding in agreement.

The stunted adult in "Full Grown Men" (2006), opening Wednesday, is emotionally inert. The one in "Momma's Man" (2007) opening August, is even more inert.

Count me in on also wanting to drive a stake into the heart of this genre. And I'm probably suffering arrested development myself!

The lead character in FULL GROWN MEN needed smacked upside the head ... or maybe turned over someone's knee and spanked, then told to "GROW UP!"
