Movie Pick: My Winnipeg
The Maddin children with their mother (Ann Savage)
If you've never seen a Guy Maddin film, you should start with this poetic autobiography. "My Winnipeg" showcases the director's style and quirks without the squirm-inducing elements of some of his other films, such as "Tales from the Gimli Hospital" (1988) or "Dracula: Pages from a Virgin's Diary" (2002), which can be saved for more advanced viewing. Here is the initial rollout of theaters. The film is also available on IFC in Theaters from On Demand. 06/13/08 IFC Center - New York, NY 06/20/08 Nuart Theatre - West Los Angeles, CA 06/27/08 Music Box -Chicago, IL 07/11/08 DIA - Detroit, MI 07/18/08 Cedar Lee - Cleveland, OH 07/25/08 Lumiere - San Francisco, CA 08/01/08 Railroad Square - Waterville, ME 08/08/08 Hollywood - Portland, OR 08/15/08 Wexner Center - Columbus, OH 08/22/08 Real Art Ways - Hartford, CT 08/29/08 Guild - Albuquerque , NM 09/12/08 UICA - Grand Rapids, MI 09/17/08 Rag Tag - Columbia, MO 10/10/08 Doris Duke - Honolulu, HI Posted at 09:22PM on Jun 12, 2008
