French director Arnaud Desplechin discussed his work for the final NYFF Dialogue this past weekend, but hardly needed the translator. What he did need was a more powerful mic, so a few of us put our recorders up on the stage. (Thanks, Elena!) Haven't had a chance to listen to the recording yet.
What I would say about the director is the what I would say about his films. These words come to mind: witty intelligent random cultured open playful inquisitive easy exploratory and... concerned with identity. I highly recommend his new film, "A Christmas Tale," to be released theatrically in a few weeks.

Thanks for the thanks! I'm just transcribing now. Unfortunately, AD is so soft spoken (as is KJ), that I was able to scavenge very little from my recorder!
