SEX AND THE CITY 2! It's that time of year to discuss chick flicks! Woo Hoo!

In honor of the opening of SEX AND THE CITY 2 one day before the official start of Memorial Day Weekend, I am listing my Top Ten Chick Flicks and Rom-Coms. I'm not going to get into the specious concept of the chick flick or how there are not enough movies that appeal to women. I'm just going to give you my favorite guilty pleasures from the past 25 years, since 1985. There will be no foreign films, not even Four Weddings and a Funeral. Independent female auteurs like Nicole Holefcener and Lovely & Amazing will not grace this list. And no indie male auteurs either, like Richard Linklater with Before Sunrise and Before Sunset.

So here they are, in alpha order, based on how often I've watched them in the middle of the night, on TV:

13 Going on 30
Groundhog Day
When Harry Met Sally
My Best Friend's Wedding
My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Say Anything...
The Devil Wears Prada
The Notebook
Wedding Crashers
Working GIrl

Yeah, I know. Some of the glaring omissions were easier to eliminate than others.

Off to the preview screening of S&TC 2 tonight! Here are my photos of costume designer Patricia Field from last fall.
