In anticipation of Sujewa Ekanayake's "Indie Film Blogger Road Trip" (featuring some of my friends and colleagues) at Anthology Film Archives next Tuesday night, I thought I'd play James Lipton and ask him the Actors Studio questions. Here are his answers via email exchange. (I especially like Spartacus the cat!)

Q1: What is your favorite word?
A1: My favorite words at the moment are: "juicy", "fantabulous", & "cookie bear" - but I guess that's two words.

Q2: What is your least favorite word?
A2: I don't think I have a least favorite word, sorry.

Q3: What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
A3: Joy.

Q4: What turns you off creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
A4: People who try to justify inaction by talking about how difficult something might be to accomplish - I run into that pretty often in the indie film world - even in the DIY area of it. Also unnecessary despair & hopelessness.

Q5: What sound or noise do you love?
A5: I think the sound the radar system on Battlestar Galactica - the Dradis system - makes is neat.

Q6: What sound or noise do you hate?
A6: Spartacus the cat sneaking into the basement & asking for food or whatever at 5 in the morning while I am on the 3rd act of an interesting dream.

Q7: What is your favorite curse word?
A7: Probably [the F word]

Q8: What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
A8: Head of a global, very active, & very effective anti-poverty non-profit org with a security & rescue unit that can be deployed anywhere in the world quickly.

Q9: What profession would you not like to do?
A9: Mortician - something very creepy about dealing with dead bodies on a regular basis - once is a while might be alright - but everyday? I don't think so.

Q10: If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
A10: I am going to take a little vacation, can you keep an eye on the universe while I am gone?
