What are We Watching this Weekend?

I will be the first one at the theatre tomorrow morning for Stealth. Who's there with me?

Review barn Filmcritic.com (more coverage on these idiots next week) gave it 1.5 stars!!!!

Got so much out of the way last weekend with LAST DAYS, 9 SONGS, PENGUINS, ISLAND (still Listerine-ing the taste of that one from my mouth), that this weekend might be a quiet time. Unlike everyone else in the universe, I have no interest in WEDDING CRASHERS. And STEALTH looks bonkers. Perhaps I'll grab MEMORIES OF MURDER...is it still playing? And there's always the standby HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE. I better hustle for that one.

Second viewings of DEVIL'S REJECTS and CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY wouldn't necessarily be out of order either.

Psst: BARRY LYNDON's playing at Pleasantville's Jacob Burns next Sunday...worth a trek of course. Make it a day trip!

I'm wondering if watching STEALTH is one of those "funnier in theory than in practice" things...

Otherwise, seeing Chris Elliott present CABIN BOY at Anthology, HIGH SIERRA, THEY DIED WITH THEIR BOOTS ON, and DESPERATE JOURNEY at Museum of the Moving Image's Walsh series (maybe LAST TANGO IN PARIS too), and BLACK CAT, MOON OVER HARLEM, and BLUEBEARD in Anthology's Ulmer series.

Oh, shit, and THE CONFORMIST at some point.

"Top Gun" was the epitome of fighter pilot genre perfection — no one should be allowed to touch the subject again. What exchange could possibly say more, be better put or more elegantly encapsulated than "You can be my wingman any time." "Bullshit! You can be mine." Sniff.
