By The Numbers

Since ranking the quality of art with numbers is fun and rewarding, here's a selection of ratings for a few films I've seen at this year's Toronto Film Festival:

Brothers of the Head: 1.0
Citizen Dog: 6.0
Duelist: 4.5
Drawing Restraint 9 (first half): 5.0
Gabrielle: 8.7
Giant Buddhas: 7.4
Harsh Times: 4.3
Les Saignantes (first 30 minutes): 9.7
Little Fish (first 30): 3.4
Mary: 9.0
River Queen: 7.9
Sketches of Frank Gehry: 7.4
Thank You For Smoking: 5.2
The Willow Tree: 5.7
Un Couple Parfait: 6.7
Vers Le Sud: 7.1

Who need analysis when we have the power of numbers?

Wow. I give that post a 5.4. Especially since I don't know any of the directors' names. I think Vers le Sud is the Laurent Cantet, right?

C'mon lazy, this is what Al Gore invented the internet for. Your comment: 3.1

Your mom: 10.0

Nice "Your mom" comment. 3 and a half apples.

Um, why would you walk out of a film if you were enjoying it so much you gave the first 30 minutes a 9.7? Some kind of pressing engagement? Also, it was shown on video, so why not finish it out at the mediatheque? Is this some kind of weird Reverse Shot in-joke-cum-partial-screening-ritual I'm just not getting?
