Reverse Shot and New York food magazine Edible Manhattan's monthly summer screening series at 92YTribeca, "Eat This Film!," begins this Wednesday June 9 and runs through September 15. This series will highlight a unique selection of timely and timeless international features and documentaries that look at our relationship to food via the moving image. Each screening will be followed by in-depth discussions and Q&As with notable guest speakers. The first is Fast Food Nation, featuring Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklater (Before Sunset, School of Rock) and best-selling author Eric Schlosser (Fast Food Nation, Reefer Madness).
Read Michael Koresky's article on Fast Food Nation:
Everything about Richard Linklater‘s terrific movie Fast Food Nation (2006) is something of a red herring. A film about huge subjects writ tiny, this freeform fictional adaptation of Eric Schlosser‘s best-selling nonfiction exposé of the meat and processed food industries is not really about the meat at all. It’s a survey of the current culture: big, sprawling, and endlessly frightening, told via the minutiae of everyday life, as it’s lived in one Nowheresville Colorado town.
