A gift from Junebug director Phil Morrison on the occasion of the release of Flight of the Red Balloon. Says Morrison, "If that is not Mr. Hou drinking the Pepsi and taking the picture, then the guy sitting next to me was a liar or mistaken and you can put this thing in the fiction section."
Original music by Mac McCaughan; editing by David Traver; title by Emily Kowalczyk.
Thanks, Phil!

It's him. Such a "houx" would be hou-lly inappropriate.

Nothing definitive, or so I've heard. Looking forward to seeing what Phil's got next, aside from those Mac commercials (which, admit it, you know you love). Assayas's HHH is pretty terrific...saw it at Anthology a few years back for its Hou fest, alongside The Puppetmaster. Very casual, awestruck only in concept; I recall it feeling more like ethnography than biography...

Nice. Any word on whether Phil Morrison has anything in the works? Also, did anyone catch Olivier Assayas's HHH when it played Anthology a couple months ago? I haven't had the chance to see it, so I remain curious. For all of cinema's elegiac movie love, it seems rare that great filmmakers get behind the camera for portraits of their revered contemporaries. (I don't think LIGHTNING OVER WATER really counts, and the Costa-Straub-Huillet doc looks as anomalous as Assayas's film.)
